Lava Agni 4 review: Lava launched its flagship phone in the Indian market last year. I’ve used it for several days and can now tell you about it. This phone isn’t cheap, falling into the mid-range budget. Lava has placed a big bet on this phone. Now the question is whether you should buy it.
Domestic company Lava is continuously improving its image in the Indian market. The company launched several phones in 2025. Most of these phones are in the budget segment and challenge the dominance of Chinese companies. The company seems to be largely successful in its efforts.
The brand launched the Lava Agni 4 at the end of last year. This phone comes with powerful features and is the company’s flagship product. I’ve been using this phone for some time now and can now tell you whether it’s worth buying or not.

Design
The design of the Lava Agni 4 is excellent. The company has done something I expect from all brands. The phone has a stylish look that attracts attention. People stop and talk about it. This means the company has done a good job with its design. The smartphone features a boxy design. However, the back panel is slightly curved, providing a better grip. The rear panel features a horizontal camera module, giving it a look somewhat reminiscent of Pixel phones. There are two cameras on the rear.

The phone’s right side houses the volume rocker, power button, and an action key. These buttons can be customized for various features. Featuring dual speakers, the phone also has a Type-C charging port and SIM tray at the bottom. Design-wise, the phone is a good device, offering a premium feel rather than being bulky or bulky.
Display
The Lava Agni 4 features a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,400 nits. I never experienced any issues while using it. The screen is flat and has slim bezels. The touch response is good. The screen is also good in daylight. I didn’t experience any brightness issues. Overall, the smartphone’s display is good.
Performance
The smartphone comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor. This is a proven processor in the mid-range budget segment, delivering excellent performance. This is a good processor for the phone’s budget, and is also available in other phones in the segment.
Even if you’re into gaming, it won’t be a problem. I’m not a heavy gamer, but games like BGMI and COD Mobile were easily playable. Overall, this phone doesn’t disappoint in terms of performance.
The software experience is something I personally like about Lava. This is because the company offers nearly stock Android. The phone comes with Android 15. Lava has promised three Android updates and four years of security updates for this phone.
I think the company could have done a little better here. The phone should have provided four years of OS updates. However, if you don’t like stock Android, it might feel a bit lacking. In terms of performance, this Lava phone is a great device in my opinion.
Camera and Battery
The phone has a 50MP main lens and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Both cameras perform decently, but don’t deliver the best results in the segment. In other words, the phone’s camera is good, but not the best. On the front, the company offers a 50MP selfie camera. The front camera takes good photos. Not only are the images bright in daylight, but the color tones are also natural. Photos retain good detail. The Lava Agni 4 produces average-quality photos in night mode.
The phone comes with a 5000mAh battery. The company could have done a little better here. Although the phone lasts a full day with normal use, the small battery is sometimes a problem. A 6000mAh battery would have been better. Speaking of AI, the company has included ‘Vayu AI’. This is a well-functioning artificial intelligence agent. It comes with several pre-installed agents trained for different tasks. However, these are rarely needed for everyday tasks.
There are no issues with calling and connectivity on the phone. I didn’t face any challenges with network connectivity either.
Bottom Line
In my opinion, the Lava Agni 4 is an excellent mid-range device. If you want something different from Chinese brands, this smartphone is a good choice. However, in terms of camera, you can find better options in this budget. You’ll also get premium design and build quality.
The fact that the phone has received only three Android updates is a bit of a bummer. The company offers doorstep service on its phones, which makes it even better. If the company had worked on some points, it could have offered consumers a nearly perfect phone under ₹25,000.
